Waterproofing
Damp etc
This page carries no pictures, but it is self-explanatory.
To help prolong the life of any external wall, we advise that you weatherproof the walls with a sealer.
This is especially useful when you have an older property where the cement joints are starting to perish, or where the property is of single skin build, without a cavity.
Weather proofing will stop the dampness penetrating the exterior wall and cause dampness and condensation internally
By weather proofing at an early stage, you can save the high costs of re-pointing the cement joints.
Normally weather proofing will last for anything from 5-25 years depending on the weather proofing coat that is used, obviously this is due to the cost of what you the customer wishes to pay at the time of the survey/quotation being carried out. Another factor to take into consideration is the state of the bricks or external walls, you must ask yourself the question of what about if the brick face has been damaged by frosts etc. If this is the case the brickwork or walls will become porous which in turn will help black mould and other nasties to grow on the internal walls.
By weather proofing externally the moisture cannot penetrate, and the internal walls will dry out.
